At Hershey Food Bank & Community Outreach…
we believe in the power of nourishment and community support. Our mission is to serve the Derry Township community by providing food and assistance with the temporary needs of families and individuals in financial distress.. A Hershey Pennsylvania-based all volunteer, non-profit organization dedicated to eradicating hunger and promoting dignity within our community for over 55 years.
It is not our policy to donate either food or money to any other charity or organization, but to use 100% of all contributions to directly help those we serve.
As an all volunteer charity, no one receives a salary and we do not compensate any volunteers for personal expenses.
Join us in the fight against hunger by volunteering your time, making a donation, or spreading awareness. Your support enables us to make a difference in the lives of those facing food insecurity in our community.
Since 1968, we have been helping those in need in Derry Township by:
Distributing groceries twice each month
Providing emergency financial assistance to clients facing extreme hardship
Referring clients to Social Services and other agencies for more assistance
Working with Derry Township Police to provide limited assistance to transients on a case-by-case basis as needed.
Our Impact:
By the conclusion of 2023, the food bank served a total of 381 registered families, comprising 1,118 individuals. On average, need increased by 23% over the previous year.
“What a wonderful and giving place. In what can be an intimidating situation to ask for help in times of need, the volunteers and workers there could not have been more kind and understanding. Thank you so much for the help, and thank you so much to all of you who donated.”
